Welcome to my new website! My name is Myriam, and I own Myriam Haircolorist Salon, LLC in Pilot Mountain, NC. In addition to exploring my creativity through hair "art", I also create crafts and have a boutique in my salon to showcase my work and take custom orders.
I have loved arts and crafts since I was young. I was born in Canada, and my parents are from France. I met my soulmate and moved with him to this small town in North Carolina. When I was young, I showed my artistic talent by cutting all of my poor doll's and Barbie's hair. Only one of my dolls was lucky enough to escape my scissors — because his hair was molded onto his head so there was no hair to cut! My sixth grade teacher, Mrs. Audette, had us create some squares with yarn to make her a type of quilt. Later, my mom showed me how to sew and knit, things l still love doing, and learned new technics not too long ago with differents people to knit without needles, just with your hands that is pretty cool too.... and my mom show me how to repair little things too and how to use a yarn machine. I took class to learn how to macrame. My mom and my dad also taught me about gardening (although I was too young to appreciate it). My tenth grade teacher, Mrs. Louisette Cote, taught me gardening with roses, as well as painting, and more crafty sewing things, which I came to love.
As an adult, I entered into the Quebec Rose Society and went totally crazy with roses. I had 365 rose bushes of several varieties and gardening became one of my passions. As my life changed, I went to school to learn oil painting and English language (still learning), as well as acrylic, water colors painting. After moving to North Carolina, I took more different painting classes since. I took pottery classes with my niece Sylvia Lawson who was an Art teacher and still teaching pottery at her amazing WATERFALL STUDIO in Pilot Mountain, NC, and other people and started having fun with it. I make a special ornaments for each one of my hair clients every year, and have been creating Christmas ornaments for my wonderful clients every year since. I am a fan of the watercolorist Jean Haines, and still register for her online classes. A friend of mine, Jane, showed me how to use alcohol inks on flat paper and now I try them on glass, vases and everything I can find. I took multiple classes with differents teachers to learn stainglass and I took multiple classes to learn and do glass fusion and still learning with Brad Walker and his family at WARM GLASS GALLERY & STUDIO IN CLEMMONS. All of the different techniques I tried over the years has led to my crafts business. My clients started buying and ordering my pieces, and I added the crafts boutique within my hair salon. One of my little one, Maletha, makes the most wonderful jewelry under the "Rustic Daisy" brand on FB and Etsy.I may open an online store, but for now my products are available for viewing in my store or through my website and my FB page . I have many new techniques that I want to try and look forward to sharing with people soon! My motto is ..... Don't forget to have fun, no matter what. That's what life is about!
